About

Something unusual is happening in El Salvador.

New roads are being built. Communities are growing. Businesses are opening. Investment is arriving. People who once left are returning, while others are choosing to build new lives here for the first time.

Most countries are documented after history has already been written.

Build El Salvador is documenting this one while it's happening.

We tell docu-story style stories from across the country, following the people building homes, launching businesses, investing in communities, protecting the land, and choosing to call El Salvador home. Rather than chasing daily headlines, we focus on the stories that explain why the country is changing and what that transformation looks like through the lives of the people experiencing it.

Our stories combine on-the-ground reporting, first-person accounts, photography, and documentary style narration to create what we call docu-stories.

A docu-story blends the accuracy of journalism with the pacing and emotional depth of documentary filmmaking. Every story is grounded in reporting, but written to immerse readers in the experience rather than simply present a list of facts. The goal isn't just to tell you what happened, it's to help you understand what it felt like to be there.

Some stories explore people and places. Others examine geography, culture, history, or the everyday decisions that quietly reshape a country. Together, they document a transformation still unfolding.

This is a living publication.

Build El Salvador is written and produced by a small team of storytellers and contributors on the ground. Some publish under their own names. Others write under editorial bylines that will evolve as the publication grows. What unites us is a shared belief that El Salvador's story deserves better than headlines.

We'll continue following the makers, entrepreneurs, and communities shaping the country's future, adding new chapters as the story unfolds.

If you'd like to follow that journey, subscribe to receive new docu-stories as they're published. You can also find us on social media channels, where our stories come to life on screen.

Welcome to Build El Salvador.

Plan. Build. Live.

Editorial Note

Some contributor and subject portraits on Build El Salvador are AI-enhanced for visual consistency. Every portrait begins with a real photograph, and subjects review and approve their portrait before publication. Some video narration uses AI-generated voice models of Build El Salvador team members and featured subjects, created with their consent to maintain consistency across our documentary series. Some photography throughout Build El Salvador is illustrative or stock imagery used to represent people, places, or scenes described in our stories, rather than the literal subject.

AI is used in the editing process to enhance presentation, not to alter facts, quotations, or the substance of our reporting.
